The Seafarer’s Guide

evilsupplyco:

You seek the sea’s grace, horizon before you and sun on your face. And without irony you deny women’s agility, ignoring their proven ability.

Their strength and skills are more than their name (which you steal to give to your ships – who’s magic keeps you alive, who’s credit you also take claim.)

Much is said about the sea’s temper, and the wise cannot blame it for how you treat her earthly and mortal sisters.

When the sirens rise from the water and lure you with their harmony, plucking your heart strings and reminding you how you are so very lonely, know that the wise mortal, of any sex, will not remember your name and will not let loose a single tear when news comes that you are among the sea’s claimed.

A respectful sailor with a pocket of gifts will be given a fair chance, all that can be asked when crossing the sea.
