Protection From Storm

breelandwalker:

Literally came up with this on the fly this afternoon, with the hurricane approaching. Posting it for anyone who wants to get a little extra protection in before it hits.

Supplies:

  • chalice
  • wooden spoon
  • wine, mead, or cider (I used all three)
  • consecrated water, preferably collected rain
  • white candle
  • offertory incense (I used amber)

Light the candle and the incense. Fill the chalice with your chosen libation mixed with the rainwater. Take it and the spoon and go outside. Starting at the east corner of the property, walk the entire perimeter. Using the spoon, sprinkle the boundary, foundation, and cars, trees, and anything else you want protected while chanting:

Water of storm, accept my offering
Vent not thy fury upon this house
Nor these people
Nor their possessions

Continue until you have come full-circle. Bless the front door if you wish (I did), then pour the remaining libation out in the direction of the oncoming storm. Reserve a few drops to keep in the chalice on the altar.

Go back inside, make your final preparations, and let the candle and incense burn down.

Be safe, everyone!
