If you struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, or just plain feeling like a failure, I have a mantra for you that’s been really helping me out lately:
Just show up.
I used to skip class because the whole thing was so overwhelming: I had to get dressed in something clean even though I never had the energy to do laundry, walk to school, sit in class for up to three hours, plus pay attention, take notes, and participate in discussion. In reality, I was being a perfectionist, and life would have been a lot easier for me if I had Just Shown Up. By staying home because of my depression and anxiety, I wasn’t giving myself the chance to do any of that. I was such a perfectionist that being a “bad” or average student was unthinkable, so I stopped being a student at all.
If you’re having trouble getting something done, Just Show Up. You don’t have to be employee of the month. You don’t have to be valedictorian. Just Show Up.
ime it also helps to be like “you dont have to stay the whole time, you just have to go” bc most of the time once youre there it’s fine. a lot of things are like that, like… you dont have to finish the dishes, just start them. a lot of the time once you start a task it’s easier to finish than to stop, especially if you can trick yourself like “after five more minutes if i still feel bad i’ll go home” or “after washing two more dishes i can stop for today”
even if you don’t finish the task, you started it, and by completing part of it you lessened your future workload and ALSO taught your brain that things may not be as daunting as they seem
This is wisdom! Peace!
you know what years of therapy taught me – Redefine success
so what if no one else gets how the things you define as successes are victories because you have to
so you got to work – success
you used public transport – success
you went to the supermarket instead of ordering online and didn’t just buy things you dind’t want because you got scared – MASSIVE success
Redefine success, your body moved the goal posts, there is no shame in acknwoledging that

“
The world is grey, the mountains old,
The forge’s fire is ashen-cold;No harp is wrung, no hammer falls:
The darkness dwells in Durin’s halls; The shadow lies upon his tomb
In Moria, in Khazad-dûm.But still the sunken stars appear
In dark and windless Mirrormere; There lies his crown in water deep,
Till Durin wakes again from sleep.“
Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly NOW. Love mercy NOW. Walk humbly NOW. You are not obligated to complete the work but neither are you free to abandon it.

That last bit –
Lo Alecha haM’lacha Ligmor, veLo Atah Ben-Chorin leHivatel Memenah / לֹא עָלֶיךָ הַמְּלָאכָה לִגְמוֹר, וְלֹא אַתָּה בֶן חוֹרִין לִבָּטֵל מִמֶּנָּה / It is not your duty to complete the task, but nor it is your freedom to withdraw from it
– is something which is not shared nearly enough, something which is not repeated nearly enough, something with is not SHOUTED FROM THE FREAKING ROOFTOPS nearly enough.

I think if I had to describe Jewish ethics, I would start with this quote.

OMG I CANT BELIEVE MY POST HAS 11K NOTES *fainting*
During mating season, male wild turkeys will perform a “strut” to impress females. This involves making themselves appear much larger than they are by puffing and fanning their feathers.
Happy Thanksgiving!

{guess who’s semi-back? XD) what celestial object do you feel most connected to?
HI SWEETHEART!!! -tackle hug-
Hmm, good pick! Let’s see… Mars and Venus being my zodiac planets makes me adore them, but I’ve always had a major soft spot for Jupiter! Heck, my dog is named after one of it’s moons! Also, who wouldn’t love a planet with a giant never ending hurricane the size of our own planet?!?! 😁
Thanks for asking, dear!!! Don’t be a stranger! 💜😘
how open are you about your craft?do you know any witches in real life?
I’m open with those who are open with me irl. I have a select group of very close friends, who are also witches and pagans, that I share with and talk openly with. Newcomers are treated with caution until I know them better, for my safety and wellbeing as well as theirs.
I’m absolutely guilty of trusting people too soon and I’ve been burned a few tomes by that trust, but once you teach friend level five or more you pretty much know most of what there is to know about me. Secrets really aren’t a thing between my friends and I. Honesty and openness are things I strive for with the ones closest to me.
Thanks for asking, Nonny! 💜
witchy asks: how did you discover witchcraft? what is that one thing that happened that convinced you that magic is real?
Thanks for asking, Nonny!
I discovered witchcraft (in my adult years) through a dear friend of mine. They had been practicing for awhile before meeting me and when they decided to move on from their Wiccan practice they gifted me their books that they no longer needed.
I skimmed through them and felt that while Wicca didn’t feel right for me the whole idea of witchcraft reignited a love I’ve had for the occult since I was a kid, but this time it was more than loving a movie… Witchcraft was a real thing that real people did and it elated me to realize such a thing.
Not long after I discovered that paganism was a thing and my godphone began to ring. While that’s a whole different discussion for another time it all came from the same friend and the same realization that some things I had loved as a fantasy and mythology were legitimately real.
As for things that convinced me it was real: I honestly didn’t need proof, though a few spells working out and other signs and occurrences helped cement the belief completely.
Thank you so much for asking, Nonny! 💜
Rose Water is My Religion
No, really. I have a shrine built for it on my skin.
Ok, my little noobs. Let’s talk about rose water and why I worship it: rose water is a gift to humankind and it’s the closest thing to a miracle drug there is (even though it’s not a drug). And honestly, I feel that it is not talked about enough for the absolute beauty that it is.
Woah there, A! What’s so special about rose water?
Well, I’m glad you asked! Here’s what some things that are special about rose water:
It can get rid of zits faster than you can say ‘Holy crickets!’
Got a giant zit that’s bigger than your face and don’t know what do to? Spray it with some rose water and voila! Watch that ugly slugger disappear in just a few hours. Don’t believe me? Give it a try yourself. I promise results! (You can also just wet a cotton ball or tissue in rose water and dab it on your ginormous zit.)
It can get rid of dark circles and reduces/prevents eye puffiness.
Soak cotton pads in rose water for a few minutes and then leave these pads on your eyes for at least 15 minutes. Poof! Puffy eyes are a goner. If you repeat this on a daily basis, you are sure to get rid of dark circles over time.
It revitalizes, hydrates, and moisturizes your skin and leaves it with a refreshing glow.
Keep rose water in a spray bottle and spray your face with it throughout the day. It contains Vitamins A and C as well as antioxidants. It also has natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
It has benefits for all skin types.
Rose water is equally beneficial to all skin types. It can sooth sensitive and irritated skin, cleanse oily skin, and helps reduce acne. It is also great at balancing the natural pH of the skin.
It can reduce aging and wrinkles and tightens pores.
Rose water is a natural astringent. It can cleanse and tighten pores and skin. It is great for anti-aging and smoothing out lines.
It can be used as a makeup setting spray.
If you spray rose water lightly over your face after finishing your makeup, it can nicely set your makeup and give you a refreshing glow and a dewy finish on your makeup.
Promotes hair growth/regrowth.
If added to your shampoo or conditioner bottles (or even just sprayed directly on your scalp), rose water is great at increasing blood supply to the scalp and promoting hair regrowth. It is also great for soothing an irritated or itchy scalp and helps reduce dandruff. It softens and conditions hair and reduces inflammation of the scalp.
It reduces redness in skin.
Rose water can diminish the redness caused by enlarged capillaries because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
It can be used as a makeup remover.
You can pour rose water on a cotton ball and gently massage your skin to remove makeup.
It can help soothe sunburns.
Its cool and soothing properties can help calm sunburnt skin and can disinfect skin to prevent irritation and infections.
It can give you smooth and pink lips.
Apply rose water to your lips daily to make your lips naturally soft and pink.
It can be used for aromatherapy.
Rose water can be very relaxing to the mind and body. If added to a hot bath, it relieves fatigue, helps keep skin smooth and firm, improves mood, and reduces stress. It is a mild sedative and anti-depressant and relieves nervous tension.
Last but not least: it smells DIVINE. No, I mean really. It smells like the heavens. Just the smell of rose water is enough to make anyone’s day cheerful. And best of all? It has NO side effects!
Do you see why I worship rosewater now? It literally is good for EVERYTHING, has a celestial fragrance, and has absolutely NO side effects.
But, A, how can something be so absolutely perfect and have no negative sides? You tell me, my noob friend! I keep waiting for the day that someone announces to me that rose water has some deadly toxins in it because one thing couldn’t possibly have this many benefits and have no catch to balance it out. But for now, I believe that the universe decided to give us a beautiful gift and I am more than happy to accept it!
So, have you built your shrine yet?
I want to make rose water now
I also use rose water to wet my cosmetic sponges
