Boy Scout helps Pagan food pantry

These days Pagans in Need, a nonprofit which provides food to people in need regardless of their religious path, also needs help itself, and the pantry is receiving a hand from an Arrowman in the Order of the Arrow.

No, that’s not some arcane Pagan group.

“It’s kind of an honor society for Boy Scouts that you can get elected into by your troupe,” said Billy McClish, a 17-year-old member of the order and a Boy Scout who has achieved the rank of Life Scout. To achieve the next, and highest, rank – Eagle Scout – McClish has taken on a community service project: helping Pagans in Need secure funding, materials, volunteer workers, use of equipment, and equipment operators to design and install a handicap-accessible entryway to its pantry, which is housed in the basement of the Inner Ascended Masters Ministry, an interfaith community center at 5655 S. Washington Ave. in Lansing.

McClish has set up a GoFundMe page to accept donations for the project.

If you have the means, please consider a donation to help a pagan do good in their community for those in need!

Hey, everyone! I don’t know this young man, but this is a really good cause and the GoFundMe page has at this point (29 September 2018) only managed to raise about 10% of the projected cost of the project.

I’m going to be celebrating my 59th birthday in the next couple weeks and if you have the means, I would be honored if you would consider donating to this cause – OR to your local food bank.

Thank you!

Why your favourite blogs are failing.

Something has been on my mind for a while, so let me get it out and maybe you will understand why I take such long absences from creating content. And why some of your favourite witchy bloggers have given up.

I am seeing, time and time again, my content, images, even JOKES, being reposted without a link to my media on Instagram and Twitter and receiving 10k+ likes or retweets. While i struggle to make 500 notes on the same content on Tumblr. The punch in my gut is not just from the lost opportunity of how much I could have grown my platform, something I have been writing on for the past five years, but a constant reminder that people are inherently… not good. To put so much time, effort and research into something you care so much about and then other people take that and profit from it while you don’t….. there are not even words. When I was younger and more naive I thought I could even make a living off of my writing on witchcraft. Now other people are making money on the things I have created.

The first time it happened, it was funny. The second time it was less funny. The third, the fourth, the fifth, the twentieth time it happened I became more and more depressed every time I logged on to see it. Now I feel like I can’t upload anything without someone taking it from me. I struggle so much to find the motivation to even get out of bed most days because of health issues and writing used to be an escape from that. Now all I feel is guilt and shame everytime I even think about writing.

So yeah. Next time you want to upload someone else’s content to your instagram accounts, just remember that you are actively killing the creativity, motivation and happiness of the person who made it.

You can worship a deity without being devoted to that deity. You can make offerings without making oaths. It is okay. Please do not stress yourselves out because you want to make a thank-you offering but don’t want to make a lifelong commitment. Why would you need to swear oaths to say thank you? It is totally okay to just make conversation without involving vows and stuff.
