Unpopular opinion(?)
Not everything is a sign or magical occurrence.
Sometimes a bird is just looking for food. Sometimes the light is just glinting off something near by. Sometimes the spider is just looking for a good location to build a web.Nature is amazing and beautiful, but it isn’t always a sign or magical.
If you *ask* for a sign, then something happens or appears, I’m more inclined to see that as more magical.
But I don’t think everything is a sign of something, sometimes life just happens.
Unlikely occurrences, sure. I was sitting in my car and had an acorn fall in my lap from the tree. Don’t know what that means still, but I took it as a sign. But if I had been sitting under the tree, I wouldn’t take an acorn falling into my lap as magical. It was likely to happen if I’m sitting out under an Oak tree.
I’m open to civil discussion.
yesterday afternoon while i was sitting on my porch, a chickadee flitted by and perched on my head for a few seconds. it was unusual and delightful, but was it a sign? naw. chickadees are as common as dirt on my property, especially from late september to late february. they’re known to be bright and daring, and my residents have almost certainly gotten used seeing me out and about during the day. more likely than a sign, that little bird reasoned that i wasn’t a threat and either wanted a bit of fun or nice vantage point.
since we’re talking about signs from nature, here’s the thing: before you start attempting to read the natural world, you have to understand it a little bit. this isn’t me being a gatekeeper. unless you live in a doorless, windowless concrete box, nature is available to you and costs nothing. the only tools you need are your powers of observation and a few good guides to your local flora and fauna, which you can find for free at your library and through local college and nature charity websites.
once you’ve got that down you’ll start being able to separate the everyday from the extraordinary. a crow sitting on the telephone wire outside your living and cawing around a certain time every day? normal. a crow bringing you gifts every saturday for a few weeks? worth looking into.
I agree.
You can observe from a window or door, you don’t even have to actually step foot outdoor if you can’t.
And it is fairly easy to Google what is native to your area, what times of day certain animals are active, even types of bird calls and what they mean.
And signs can come from nonnature sources too.
Maybe you come across some litter and there’s a sentence on a page torn from a magazine and it calls to you.
Maybe you overhear a few words from someone talking near by and it confirms something you asked from a deity or whatever source.
Learn and observe your world around you. Learn to listen to your intuition.

I have also wondered often how you’re doing. I miss seeing you on my dash.

I’ve been alright. Lots of growth and some changes. Working on myself a lot more and just trying to get by and have a little fun along the way.
I miss you too! Like I said I’m going to try to be a little more active, but I can’t make any promises. I just… don’t think to come around much anymore after it all started to go downhill.

Ah it’s okay! I came back after three years and noticed you weren’t around!! 🙂
AHH OMG HI!!!!
I had a list of thoughts on who it could be and I’d have never guessed!!! How have you been?!
I miss you!!
I’m so sorry I’ve been so absent, Anon! Life got hectic and I found myself logging in less and less. D:Doesn’t help that I’m in writing mode again and not really doing much work with the religious and magical.
Thank you for thinking of me, though! I’ll try my best to hop on more often!
