Do you have any advice for someone who has always been Christian, and who genuinely believes in the Christian faith, but who has recently had an encounter with one of the Norse gods? There’s been a lot of synchronicities in my life lately that are way too clear to be a coincidence, but I’m not sure how to fit this deity and their call into my life and practice without sacrificing my previously-held beliefs. Any thoughts?

Hi there,

I can totally relate to where you are coming from. Early in my Pagan path I was Christo pagan and I was struggling with the something similar. So let me answer from a more Christian perspective, out of respect for your beliefs and religious perspective.

According to the Bible, “you should have no other gods before Yaweh”. Somewhere along the way the church changed this to “no other gods exist period.” I do not quite understand the mentality of the Church to suddenly decide after the Roman Conversation hundreds of years later that they were going to refuse to acknowledge other gods. Tbh it kinda feels like a Government going from “You should honor your leaders and your king first” to “there are no other kings.”

I personally think it is healthy to be able to talk to other Gods, ask them questions, learn about them in relation to the God you already know. Similar to meeting and getting to know other people. Let it go from there. You CAN be friends with Thor while still worshipping Yahweh. One doesn’t somehow cancel out the other.

And this is just from one former Christian to a current one: Allow yourself to practice what feels right. Allow for evolution and change in yourself, your beliefs, etc. If you end up staying Christo-pagan great, but if your beliefs change that is okay too. You’re not bad for growing and evolving spiritually. And don’t listen to anyone who may tell you that that is a bad thing. At the end of the day growing, and being spiritually healthy is something that is personal and determined by you.

If I might weigh in on this from the perspective of a pagan in an inter-faith marriage:

My husband is Catholic, born and raised, and he has had interactions with Thor since just before we were married. If has not lessened his faith in the Christian God at all and, if I’m being honest, it might have strengthened it to a degree.
I’ve offered to help him if he ever decides to look into Heathenry more seriously, but thus far he’s been happy being Christian while interacting with other deities.

It is possible to do both and then decide to lean one way or the other, or to just be happy with how things are. I hope you find your interactions with Thor enlightening and I hope the correct path for you brings you happiness and peace.

🖤

I was talking to my Roman Catholic mom today and we deadass discussed what Jesus’s astrological sign (I got her into astrology) was and I suddenly realized I have no idea what the current theory is to his birth month. So what’s the shit, do we have a theory on his sun sign or what???

(Note we are reasonably historically sure he wasn’t born on December 25th if you’re like what the fuck don’t we have a birth month lmao)

I know people claim Pisces a lot due to the fish imagery all over the place but the man had too much earth sign sass in him to be purely Pisces and you can fight me with a wet fish about that!!!

I mean. The DRAMA is certainty there to back that up

You know I’m totally sleeping on Leo rn. I’m so torn I can see this so many ways

I was just telling my friend my heart is SET on an earth moon placement but I’m leaning towards a fire sun. Feels true feels right

Okay, I’m going to Catholic the shit out of this. So, according to Luke 1, Mary became pregnant six months after her cousin Elizabeth, and her husband Zechariah was up to be priest that year. If we take that to mean the first month of the Jewish calendar, then Jesus was conceived in August, and born in late April to mid May. Aries or Taurus.
