it’s SPRING and you cannot convince me otherwise. the skunk cabbage is blooming in the swamp, the frogs are yelling about sex, the bird song has changed to slutty, slutty bird song, the stink bugs are climbing out of my home’s every orifice, and the hawks are yelling about sex, it’s time.
reblog my post about spring sex yelling you cowards
“but luke, you asshole, it’s not even march until tomorrow and there’s still another month or more of winter most places–”
You shut the fuck up immediately
I mean, I’ve been in shorts and T-shirts for weeks now, lol. Southern spring certainly comes early!
Find Them in the first sip of hot coffee that doesn’t quite burn. Find Them in the rising sun and the safety of warm sheets. Find Them in the silver light that heralds the sun.
The gods are not kept to shrines or grand things. They are vast and wonderful and you can find Them in the smallest of things. Whisper prayers into the steam of your tea. Mutter praises under your breath when no one else knows you’re awake. Those moments-right before you sleep and just after waking-are the most intimate.
Witchcraft is not docile. Witchcraft is what I turned to when every other avenue failed me. It was a last grasp, the feral response to my own undoing. It is death and splintering until the fragments of yourself are no longer recognizable. Witchcraft is vicious, it is violent and merciless and selfish and those who try to subjugate a witch will find that domestication does not sit easily on the skin of one who has used hellfire to warm their bones.
I needed this on my dash today. A reminder to all my fellow witches when you need it.
When all other lights go down in an empty theater, a single light bulb remains lit onstage. The official reason for this is so that stagehands coming to turn the lights on in the morning don’t trip, but those who see the shadows in the catwalk and hear the creaking in the wings know the truth; every theater has a ghost, and every theater needs a ghost light.
The idea behind the ghost light is simple: If you leave a light on as an offering to the ghost every night, they will behave during the performances and rehearsals. I live on an extremely old, extremely haunted college campus, so I’ve developed an adaptation of the ghost light to help ease some of the activity in my building.
You Will Need:
A mini LED candle
Something to hold the candle, such as a lantern or votive holder
An object that you can use to connect the candle to the dead. Mine is a pinch of graveyard dirt and a necklace belonging to a deceased relative, but anything you feel carries “death energy” works fine
When I made my ghost light, I put a pinch of graveyard dirt at the bottom of a lantern, put in my LED candle, and then wrapped my necklace around the top of the lantern. I then simply said out loud: “Here spirits, this is for you”, but feel free to add your own incantation if that would make it more powerful for you. Every night before I turn my lights off, I turn my ghost light on and leave it on throughout the night. I’ve had mine up for a week now, and I haven’t had any weird activity since
(This post is my first in my Theatre Witchcraft series of spells and rituals inspired by the theatre and to help theatre witches. If you have any requests for theatre-related spells, hit up my inbox!)
Don’t accept witchcraft books for history. Read history texts.
Don’t accept witchcraft books for mental processes. Read psychology and biological texts.
Don’t accept witchcraft books for mythology. Don’t accept witchcraft books for religion. Read original texts and papers written researchers credited in their fields.
Use witchcraft books for witchcraft, and witchcraft alone. That is what they specialize in and what they are published for. If it branches out into a different subject, be suspicious and research the topic later.
I cannot tell you how often, at a Pagan or witchy event, it’s come up that my degree is in history, and that what the person is citing from one of the current popular witchcraft books is just *wrong*.
Not slanted or interpreted a little differently. Just *wrong*.
Like the current narrative that only cis gendered women were targeted in witch hunts, when in actuality, they targeted cis gendered men as well, and often specifically as a racial or ethnic targeting with witchcraft as the excuse.
See, the darkness is leaking from the cracks.
I cannot contain it. I cannot contain my life.
