pieandhotdogs: pieandhotdogs: Sometimes your gods don’t ever talk to you. Don’t let anybody tell you that that’s not normal, or that they’re better devotees or more religious or any of that horseshit. Your friends aren’t “more open” to the gods or anything like that. Your gods are not pissed at you. Silence from the godsContinue reading
Deities
freya-witch: hekateanwitchcraft: Gods and goddesses are NOT correspondences. They are NOT spell ingredients. Gods and goddesses are not just called on for spells. They are to be respected and honored. I’ve seen this trend of Neo-Pagans to say “oh this god or goddess is good for such and such”. They are not “good for something”Continue reading “Deities”
Fun Facts
breelandwalker: bookeyman: swampwulf: upthewitchypunx: breelandwalker: Easter has NOTHING to do with: Ishtar Ostara Pagan holidays A goddess called Eostre (Bede was a speculating idiot and he’s the original source for this nonsense) Easter has EVERYTHING to do with: The Jewish celebration of the Passover seder The Christian celebration of the death and resurrection of JesusContinue reading “Fun Facts”
bookhobbit: pagans and polytheists who tell you that you’re doing it wrong because you’re not being ~historical enough or that you got into something for the Wrong Reasons because there was popular media about it or that you’re venerating a god who isn’t supposed to be venerated bc they’re morally ambiguous or whatever calm downContinue reading
Hinduism and Buddhism are not closed religions, I don’t think using the terms karma and chakras is bad. If you can’t use those terms (which are used by non-witches and karma is used by almost everybody) what words would you use to describe it? Chakras have been us e by pagans in general for years, you see stones that are used for the throat chakra, third eye, etc. what else are you supposed to do?
witchy-woman: justaqueerwitchy: coffeeandwashitape: I know they’ve been used by pagans for years, just like “smudging” has and all the other problematic words. I have an issue with people throwing “karma” around too, not because they aren’t real things, but because the way we use them (like almost everything we love to pick and choose from other cultures)Continue reading “Hinduism and Buddhism are not closed religions, I don’t think using the terms karma and chakras is bad. nightowlsuggestion: Your name is powerful. It is a spell with magic and brimstone interwoven into every syllable that rolls off your tongue like milk and honey. It is your war cry and a hushed lullaby. It is the beat of your heart and the quiver of truth. It is all you are, your entire beingContinue reading
wodneswynn: Pro tip: If you’re looking into signing on with a pagan group, the phrases “male and female energies” and “Great Rite initiation” are both secret codes. The former means, “We will refuse to respect your identity,” and the latter means, “Yeah, we’re a cult, but we’re a sexy cult,” and they can both be takenContinue reading
bee-girlfriends: Quality time spent with your deities isn’t always outbursts of emotional devotion and raw tears. Sometimes it’s sitting quietly together and letting Their presence calm your worried soul.
aldamirie: I had to learn this today and I felt like typing this as a reminder and for perhaps anyone else that needs this : Often times, you won’t have a dialogue with your gods every day, and sometimes they can even be silent for weeks or months. And that’s okay – part of thatContinue reading
